All parents/guardians of students attending schools in B.I.S.D. are afforded the opportunity to request transfer to the school of their choice. Parents/guardians should be aware that T1 and T2 transfer students are the only transfer students eligible for transportation.
Tier transfers available to students in B.I.S.D. are as follows:
Tier 1- All students who attend the home high school of their zoned middle school and
(a) students attending Caldwood and Price who have a dual track attendance zone between the Ozen High School and West Brook High School;
(b) students attending Roy Guess who have a dual track attendance zone between Central High School and West Brook High School Tier 2 – All students who attend schools where 65% or greater qualify for free and reduced price lunch may transfer to a school where less than 65% of students qualify for free and reduced price lunch.
Approval will be granted on a space available basis.Tier 3 – Low Performing. A student attending a zoned school identified as a low performing campus by the state may request placement in a school out of his/her assigned zone. Transportation is not provided. Approval will be granted on a space available basis.
Tier 4 – Freedom of Choice. Any student may request a transfer to any school of their choice with the exception of Odom, Ozen, Smith and Central. Approval will be granted on a space available basis. Transportation is not provided. Approval will be granted on a space available basis.
YOU MAY BE GRANTED
ONE (1) TRANSFER PER CAMPUS
All transfer requests must be submitted to the office of Special Services from February 8 to March 31, 2010.
Doors will open at 7:00 a.m. February 8, 2010 in the Boardroom of the Administration Building
Transfer applications are picked up and returned to Special Services.
NOTE: Parents/students desiring to attend Odom Academy and Ozen High School – Smith Middle School and Central High School must apply directly at those schools due to the “magnet” status of those campuses.
